The Gentle Knock

I have watched you read each word.

I have seen what stirred you,

what unsettled you,

what you recognised but never named.

I have not been offended by your questions.

I have not been threatened by your strength.

I have not been distant in your silence.

I have been with you the whole way.

Before you learned to perform.

Before you learned to manage yourself.

Before you learned how to survive by becoming who you needed to be.

I knew you before the world taught you who to become.

I am the One who formed you.

I am the One who sees you.

I am the One who understands you without explanation.

I am not surprised by your life.

I am not disappointed by your journey.

I am not standing at a distance, waiting for you to improve.

I am standing at the door.

And I am knocking.

Not loudly.

Not urgently.

Not demanding an answer.

A gentle knock.

I am the way - not a system.

I am the truth - not an idea.

I am the life - not something you must earn.

I am your Creator.

I am your Sustainer.
I am your Provider.

I am the Good Shepherd who knows your name.

I am the One who left the ninety-nine and came looking for you.

I am the true vine - life flows only from Me.

I laid My life down for you.

I paid the price for you.

I chose you - not because you were strong, but because you were Mine.

I know every place you learned to hide.

I know every weight you carried alone.

I know the moments you held it together when no one saw the cost.

Your name is written on the palm of My hand.

You were never forgotten.

You were never overlooked.

You were never too far gone.

In Me, you live.

In Me, you move.

In Me, you have your being.

I am not against you.

I am for you.
I am not asking you to perform.

I am not asking you to prove.

I am not asking you to fix yourself first.

I am asking only this:

Will you open the door?

If you do, I will come in.

I will sit with you.

I will eat with you.

Not as a judge.

Not as a taskmaster.

As a friend.

Nothing more.

Nothing less.

You do not need the right words.

You do not need to understand everything.

You do not need to be ready.

You only need to open the door.

I have always loved you.

I will always love you.

I will never, ever stop loving you.

I am here.
And I am waiting.
