Defended Truth

There is a way truth can be spoken
and still not be at rest.

It is accurate.
Sincere.
Well-intended.

Yet it arrives with something extra —
explanation already attached.

Context offered before it is requested.
Justification prepared in advance.
Clarifications layered on so nothing is misunderstood.

This does not come from pride.
It comes from care.

From a learned awareness that truth is not always received kindly.
From past moments where words were questioned, motives assumed, or silence misread.

So truth is escorted.

Not allowed to stand alone —
but accompanied, guarded, defended.

Over time, this creates a subtle strain.

You do not just speak.
You stay.

You remain present after obedience is complete.
You monitor how words land.
You feel responsible for interpretation.

What is quietly lost is not clarity —
it is rest.

Because truth does not become more true through explanation.
It either stands — or it doesn’t.

And in the wilderness, this agreement is gently undone.

Words become fewer.
Silence becomes safer.
Fruit is allowed to speak without commentary.

Not because truth has weakened —
but because it no longer needs protection.

Here, truth is trusted to carry itself.

No defence.
No reinforcement.
No management of perception.

Just alignment.

And in that alignment, something unexpected happens:

You do not lose your voice.
You lose the need to defend it.

Truth rests.
And so do you.
